Ingredients
Pumpkin Puree:
To keep this recipe healthier, be sure to choose pumpkin puree as opposed to pumpkin pie filling. They are often right next to each other on the grocery store shelf, and I’ve bought the wrong one before. The filling has added sugar and spices, and we want to keep this healthy and as clean as possible.
Milk of Choice:
I usually use organic almond milk, but I would also use raw cow milk if I have it on hand. You could also use coconut milk here, but you might have that slight coconutty taste.
Sweetened Condensed Milk:
This is not the healthiest ingredient, but you can find clean versions without preservatives, like this one or even a coconut milk option as well. It is necessary to the recipe though as it adds a rich thickness to the creamer that is key to making this tasty!
Vanilla Extract:
Vanilla extract adds a warm aromatic sweetness that ties the earthy pumpkin and milky flavors together. Learn to make your own here!
Pumpkin Pie Spice:
This spice is really going to give your creamer the pumpkin and fall vibes. It is usually a blend of 5 different spices: cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice and cloves. Each of these spices on its own has health benefits and together, create a dynamo spice blend!
Your Favorite Non-Toxic Mold-Free Coffee:
This may be news to you, but coffee can contain mold. It is grown in tropical climates that are warm and humid and create perfect conditions for mold to thrive. Additionally, if the beans aren’t dried well enough, mold can develop. Mycotoxins are the compounds that are produced by the mold and are what are really dangerous for humans to ingest. It’s important to intentionally choose a good organic coffee that uses high quality beans and 3rd party testing to ensure the coffee you are consuming is as clean as possible. Add-In’s/ Recipe Variations
Sweeter: If you like a sweeter taste, feel free to add in honey or maple syrup. I find that the sweetened condensed milk adds the perfect amount of sweetness but I don’t like it overly sweet.
Spicier: If you want a bit of a spicier kick, add in a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger or cloves. Or even a dash of cayenne!
Creamier: Use a full fat coconut milk or raw cow milk to give it a thicker, creamier texture.
Tastier: Add in an extra teaspoon of vanilla extract instead to intensify the flavors.
Healthier: Add in a scoop of collagen powder to add a protein boost without the altering the taste. You can also swap out the sweetened condensed milk for honey or maple syrup.
